Essential oils are the distinctive volatile aroma compounds of plants, and are extracted from different
parts of them (i.e. seeds, barks, peel of fruits, roots, leaves, etc.).

They are "essential", for they possess the characteristic organoleptic properties, or essence, of the plant or fruit.

Essential oils are hydrophobic (not soluble in water).

Different methods are used to extract essential oils.
Our Citrus Oils are produced by expression, using a low-heat mechanical process called “Cold Press”.
In short: the rinds are scraped (or punctured) and pressed so that the inner glands break, releasing the essential oil, which is washed and collected.
Further centrifugation, decanting and filtering follows. The filtered oil may be winterized (de-waxed), depending on customers’ preferences.
